As individuals age, the potential decline in both physical and mental health can make engaging in needed healthcare services more difficult. Care teams that are accessible and knowledgeable about the challenges associated with this stage in life are essential for supporting healthy aging. September is recognized as Healthy Aging Month, and 不良研究所 is investing in solutions to help aging populations and those who care for them overcome obstacles more easily, allowing them to live life to its fullest.
More than 16% of individuals 65 and over are affected by mild cognitive impairment, which can impact their ability to live independently or reason clearly.1 Additionally, the number of people living with dementia in the U.S. is expected to double by 2050.2 To address the rising population of our members living with Alzheimer鈥檚 disease and other related dementias, 不良研究所 collaborated with to create a Dementia Care Specialist training program for 不良研究所 care management staff. The program was designed to fully equip care teams to work with members and caregivers to assist with care coordination, provide Alzheimer鈥檚 disease and other related dementia education, and behavioral management strategies that help members age in place or in the least restrictive environment for as long as possible.听听
The Dementia Care Specialist Certification has proven especially impactful for caregivers. It uses caregiver assessment techniques that address not only the needs of the members but also their caregivers, recognizing the importance of the family unit in comprehensive care for those affected by dementia. By increasing staff knowledge and understanding of dementia, our care teams are better prepared to engage members and their caregivers, connecting them with community resources and support. Hundreds of staff members have already completed the rigorous training program to secure certification, with plans for expansion across multiple states in the next year.听
As part of our commitment to those we serve, 不良研究所 continues to discover and embrace innovative approaches to healthcare, delivering personalized care that promotes whole health and independence.听
